La Tannerie is situated down a private driveway off the rue d’Angouleme. A large gravelled car parking area has room for up to 16 vehicles.
(NB We sadly had to have the willow tree removed Summer 2016.)
The garden is surrounded on all sides by a branch of the River Tude that was used in the tanning process and to drive the water wheel that can still be seen in the remains of the old mill.
The swimming pool is 12 metres by 6 metres, and ranges in depth from 1 metre to 2 metres. Roman steps at the shallow end allow for easy access. The water in the pool is heated by solar panels. These extend the usable season from April through to late September.
The two largest gites, Les Baignades and La Sècherie, have their own private seating areas with gazebos, barbecues and garden furniture.
Seating for the Étables gites is provided within the walls of the former water mill. The sound of cascading water can be heard here throughout the year.
La Maison de Maitre has a deck overlooking the pool, a private terrace to the rear of the office, and a riverside terrace to the side of the house that is used by the current owners for functions and a weekly tea room.
There are swings, a table tennis table and a playhouse in the front garden.
Surrounded as the garden is by trees it can be difficult to fully appreciate just how close all the town’s facilities are (see the Location page) but all are a short stroll from La Tannerie.
